Definition

A note referring to current and former issuing bodies, including notes containing compiling, editing, or translating information that involves an issuing body. Use field 550 also for notes denoting the item as an official organ of a society, etc.

Field 550 can be used to record issuing bodies and explain their relationship to the publication. The field can be used to justify access points in 7xx fields.

Use field 500 for notes relating to commercial publishers, distributors, or places of publication.
