This past weekend OCLC made several improvements to the current Web services and released a new beta of the License Manager Web service. The existing WMS Acquisitions Web service now includes read access to several more objects which are part of the Acquisitions workflow. The new objects available include:
Developers can now retrieve invoice information including the vendor information, vendor invoice number, notes, invoice total, and the invoice items and their specific information such as quantity, price, shipping, etc. We anticipate several possible use cases for this additional functionality in the Acquisitions web service. In particular, this Web service was created with the use case of exporting invoice information from Acquisitions for import into a financial system such as SAP or PeopleSoft.
Additionally, developers can retrieve budget information such as the start and end date, status, and the funds which are associated with a budget or budgets. Developers can also access funds information such as subfunds, amount budgeted, encumbered and paid. This fund information can be used by developers when creating a purchase order item via the Acquisitions Web service to designate the funding source for a purchase order item.
The new beta License Manager Web service provides developers with the ability to read information about licenses and global license templates. Using this Web service, developers can list institution licenses in various states; retrieve the vendor and collection(s) a license is associated with; view license terms, description, start and end dates, status, date signed, renewal date, notes and related documents.
