The news is already out, but we definitely need to announce it here as well -- November 7-8 in New York City we will be having our first WorldCat Hackathon at the Science, Industry, and Business Library of NYPL. Our co-host is NYPL Labs. It should be a lot of fun and all of us at OCLC Grid Services are very much looking forward to it. We think anytime you get a roomful of hackers together and give them access to a lot of interesting data and web services, cool things can happen. Although we have quite a few services to offer, participants will of course not be limited to using only those. Any data source, web service, or application is fair game for mashing up as far as we're concerned. If it's legal, go for it. If it isn't legal, just don't tell us. There is a $30 charge, but all participants will get a t-shirt (see pic) as well as breakfast and lunch both days.
The OCLC Developer Network supports the use of OCLC Web Services—a set of tools and APIs that expose data and services for WorldCat and our member libraries and partner institutions or companies. learn more »
