How to Upload an Application

The following steps will walk you through how to upload an application to the OCLC WorldShare App Gallery. These steps apply for both click-to-install apps and other applications.

Step 1. Login To the Platform App Tool

Are you affiliated with an OCLC member library?

Logging into the Platform App Tool requires you to login through your institution. You will need to construct a URL in the following form:

https://{institution-prefix}.platform.worldcat.org/platformprofile

where the {institution-prefix} matches URL prefix used by your institution for OCLC's WorldShare Management System (WMS) applications.

If you aren’t affiliated with an institution that is uses WMS, use the following URL:

https://ocpna.platform.worldcat.org/platformprofile

You will be redirect to the appropriate screen to login.

Step 2. Upload your app

Apps are tested for basic metadata as part of this process.

  • Title
  • Description
  • Author
  • Author Email
  • Screenshot
  • Thumbnail

Apps that lack basic metadata will produce an error message detailing the missing fields.




 

Step 5. Enter App Metadata

 

  • Category—These correspond to what functionality that this app is most relevant to.
  • Description—A more detailed description of what the application does. What is the purpose of the app? What is is functionality is it supposed to provide? This information will be used during the certification process to test perform functional testing
  • Required Services—Which web services, (OCLC and non-OCLC) that are required by the app. For OCLC web services please use the name of the service in the Service Catalog

Step 6. Test your app and request certification

Once an app is uploaded, a developer can test the it in the Developer Sandbox and then Request Certification.
