Table of Mappings: DDC 000-990 to Table 3C—3 Arts and literature dealing with specific themes and subjects

Here is a table with rough mappings of DDC 000-990 to notation T3C—3 Arts and literature dealing with specific themes and subjects in Table 3C Notation to Be Added Where Instructed in Table 3B, 700.4, 791.4, 808—809. For example, if you have a theme that would normally be classed in the 640s in the schedule (e.g., cooking or sewing), look for 640 in the DDC# column, and you will be led to 3C—3564 Home and family management.

The table of mappings is intended only to give you an idea where to begin looking for the T3C—3 notation for a specific theme; you still need to check the captions and notes in Table 3C, especially the table of preference under T3C—35 Humanity. You need to be aware that specific persons (real, fictional, legendary, mythological persons) are classed in T3C—351 Specific persons, without regard to any theme with which they may be associated, e.g., Julius Caesar T3C—351 ( not T3C—3583705).

This table reflects changes to Table 3C given in New and Changed Entries for August 2007 and December 2005.
