University Librarian, The University of Hong Kong
Peter is the University Librarian at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). In this position, Peter has full responsibility for directing all aspects of the HKU Libraries’ system, including its policy formulation, planning, budgeting and development processes. The library network consists of one Main Library and six branches with a staffing profile of around 220.
Peter has also been a part time lecturer in the University’s continuing education school, HKU SPACE, as well as the Faculty of Education. He is a Director on the Board of Directors of CLOCKSS and the current President of the Hong Kong Library Association (HKLA).
Prior to his current life in Hong Kong, Peter spent almost 20 years working in various capacities in university libraries in Australia including the University of Newcastle, the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney.
Peter's interest in effective management and leadership in libraries led to the establishment of the University of Hong Kong's Annual Library Leadership Institute, aimed at developing leadership qualities in Asian librarians.
Peter was also a Faculty member of the EDUCAUSE-CAUDIT Australasian Leadership Institute between 2001 and 2003.
