Kathleen R.T. Imhoff is a library consultant specializing in library buildings and interior space planning. Previously she was Executive Director CEO of the Lexington Public Library, Lexington, Ky. for six years. Prior to joining the Lexington Public Library, Kathleen served in different capacities at the Broward County Library, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, including Assistant Director and Head of Bond Issue Implementation. From 1988-1989, Kathleen participated in a library exchange program and worked as the Assistant Director for Technical Services at the Derbyshire College of Higher Education (now the University of Derby) in Derby, England.
Kathleen was recently elected to the OCLC Board of Trustees after serving on OCLC Members Council for ten years. From 1988-1991, Kathleen served on the SOLINET Board. She also served on the Southeastern Library Association Executive Board from 1999-2008 and currently serves as the association's president. In 2007, she was elected to the Metropolitan Library Committee of the International Federation of Library Associations.
An active member of state, regional, national and international library associations, Kathleen has served two terms as Councilor of the American Library Association, was a member of the John Cotton Dana Committee, President of the Public Relations Section, and twice President of the Public Library System Section of the Public Library Association.
Twice Kathleen has received a John Cotton Dana Award. In addition she has received the ALA/PLA/CLSI International Study Award, the Bumblebee Cannot Fly Award, the Southeast Florida Library Information Network (SEFLIN) Distinguished Service Award, and the prestigious Rothrock Award for lifetime service from the Southeastern Library Association.
Kathleen is the author of two books, Making the Most of New Technology and Library Contests. She is a frequent contributor to library publications on joint-library cooperation. She is a well-known lecturer, writer, workshop leader, technology innovator and change agent.
Kathleen received her bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University and her MLS from the University of Wisconsin—Madison.
