CONTENTdm Featured Collections: September 2012

 

Organizations worldwide are using CONTENTdm Digital Collection Management Software to create thousands of outstanding digital collections and to provide easy access to their unique holdings.

This month, four collections from the CONTENTdm Collection of Collections are featured on the OCLC Web site. The featured collections for September are The Zaner-Bloser Penmanship Collection, Carberry Collection of Caribbean Literature, Southern Oregon Historical Society Photographs and Greensboro Historical Newspapers.

The Zaner-Bloser Penmanship Collection

The University of Scranton Weinberg Memorial Library

The University of Scranton's Special Collections Library hosts The Zaner-Bloser, Inc. / Sonya Bloser Monroe Collection, one of the most extensive collections of American ornamental penmanship from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The collection includes professional journals, books and manuals, scrapbooks, penmanship samples, photographs, correspondence, ephemera, publication mockups, and a wide variety of original works by master penmen.

Carberry Collection of Caribbean Literature

University of Illinois at Chicago

The project is an effort to preserve some 600 fragile book jackets of the H.D. Carberry Collection of Caribbean Studies in Special Collection of the library of the University of Illinois at Chicago and to provide access for scholars and general readers through the digitization of its images. Collected over the period from the 1940's through the nineties by Jamaican nationalist poet and Supreme Court Justice H.D.Carberry, the Carberry Collection is comprised of 1000 volumes, two thirds of which are literature and about one third history and politics.

Greensboro Historical Newspapers

University of North Carolina at Greensboro

The Greensboro Historical Newspapers Collection contains digital images of newspapers published between 1826 and 1946, including The Greensboro Patriot, several related papers, and a collection of newspapers published at Greensboro's ORD/BTC-10 army base during World War II. The newspaper collections are held by UNCG University Libraries and the Greensboro Historical Museum.
