BIBLIONEF Exhibition

An opportunity for you to demonstrate the power of being part of an active library community

The OCLC Executive Committee is pleased to announce that BIBLIONEF will be exhibiting over the course of the two days at the EMEA Regional Council Meeting. Not only will they be exhibiting, but you will also have an opportunity to contribute to their wonderful programme.

Biblionef’s mission is to provide under-resourced children and adolescents in South Africa with new books in the 11 official languages of the country, thus stimulating their curiosity and desire to learn and laying a solid foundation of knowledge for their future.

To help them in their cause, you are invited to donate new children’s books in either English or more preferably in one of the other official languages. You can either bring a book along with you, or there will be an opportunity for you to buy books from the exhibition stand, which will then go on to fill a trunk which will be sent on to a school in need.

Please remember that the books need to be:

  • New and appropriate for children or young adolescents
  • In one of the 11 official languages of South Africa: Afrikaans, English, Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Sotho, Swazi, Tswana, Tsonga, Venda, Xhosa, Zulu
  • Relevant to African culture where possible

We are a worldwide library cooperative, owned, governed and sustained by members since 1967.
