Your voice matters: Call for Nominations 2014
The OCLC EMEA Regional Council is seeking nominations to stand for two Open Delegate Positions to represent OCLC EMEA member institutions at OCLC Global Council. We encourage you to nominate a leader from an OCLC member institution – and you may nominate yourself, if you meet the criteria for eligibility.
OCLC’s call for nominations is one of the many opportunities for OCLC members to have direct influence on our member driven organisation. Your voice will shape the Global Council, whose role is to help to determine changes to OCLC’s strategy and influence decisions.
There are two open positions which will term from July 2014 to June 2017. The EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee has determined that they particularly wish to seek nominations from countries not already represented by Delegates. Countries which are already represented include: Germany, Netherlands, UK, Denmark, Lebanon and South Africa.
Nominees should hold a leadership position in an OCLC member institution i.e. Library Director or Deputy, or a position of an equivalent calibre. Delegates to OCLC Global Council serve a term of three years during which they also become members of the OCLC EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee. During their term they advise OCLC on strategic issues and participate in both virtual and in-person meetings and may also serve on OCLC committees and working groups.
Global Council meets in person at least twice annually. The EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee meets in person in The Netherlands in late September/early October, at the EMEA Regional Council Meeting in February, and also during the Global Council Meetings. The EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee Delegates actively participate in a Regional Membership Programme and also provide input to the planning of the annual EMEA Regional Council Meeting.
Potential candidates may be nominated by a leader from an OCLC member institution in their own country, or self-nominated.
The OCLC EMEA Regional Council Nominating Committee reviews and approves nominations. The Nominating Committee seeks to obtain at least two nominations for each open position that represent diversity from within the membership. The Members of the 2014 Nominating Committee will be appointed after the close for nominations.
Each OCLC member in the EMEA region has a designated voting representative who is entitled to vote on behalf of that member. Ballots will be sent electronically, making it important that we have a valid name and e-mail address for the voting representative each member institution.
