24/7 Reference Cooperative

The 24/7 Reference Cooperative (the “Cooperative”) provides an around the clock reference service, built by a cooperative of participating libraries. Libraries agree to answer questions for each other in real time, using our QuestionPoint software.
The Cooperative helps supplement your hours of service by being available to your community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

These resources are provided to libraries participating in the 24/7 Reference Cooperative to facilitate high quality responses.

This Powerpoint illustrates how to join the 24/7 Reference Virtual referral group. Using question referral allows you to move post chat session transcripts or incoming emails to other libraries in the 24/7 Cooperative for answers or more information if necessary, demonstrating the value of the concept of "move the question, not the patron".

We are a worldwide library cooperative, owned, governed and sustained by members since 1967. Our public purpose is a statement of commitment to each other—that we will work together to improve access to the information held in libraries around the globe, and find ways to reduce costs for libraries through collaboration.
