RDA for the Seasoned Cataloger: Print Monographs (Minitex)

Course Overview

The Library of Congress and other libraries will transition from AACR2 to RDA in 2013. In anticipation of this move, Minitex is offering a self-paced, online workshop on cataloging textual print monographs using RDA--for books, for pamphlets, for sheets. Though we touch upon the underlying principles of RDA cataloging, the majority of our time will be dedicated to answering a practical need: how to use the new standard to copy catalog and build original MARC bibliographic records for print monographs.

The registration fee for staff and institutions in the Minitex region varies: for Minnesota and North Dakota, it is $110; for South Dakota and Wisconsin, $125. For those outside the region, the fee is $150 (US dollars). This fee applies to the three-part course as a whole.

Schedule: The workshop is divided into three parts and delivered over a three week period. For each part you are given six days, including a weekend, to complete the training materials. Your access to Moodle will continue for about one week after the workshop’s conclusion.
