Global Council Elections EMEA Region 2014
In our last M2M Newsletter, you found a Call for Nominations for Delegate Positions to represent OCLC EMEA member institutions at OCLC Global Council. We are pleased to inform you that you were very successful in attracting experienced colleagues to stand for election for the two open positions 2014-2017.
In the ballot you have received, five colleagues present themselves:
Amada Marcos Blazquez, Head Librarian IE University Library
"My current responsibility entails altering traditional actions, introducing innovative services of developments in academic libraries, research and academic organizations at national level and for this reason I would be committed to cooperate with libraries around the world."
Guy Gobolet, Director Bibliothèque Interuniversitaire de Santé
"My goal is to participate in the development of the major worldwide network that OCLC has become over several decades and to represent end users."
Mohammed Mubarak, Senior Librarian, Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies
"My experience as an active long time leader in the SLA -Arabian Gulf Chapter has given me many insights into the challenges and potential of global initiatives."
Ulf-Göran Nilsson, Library Director University of Skovde
"With years of experience in national missions and leading library development, I want to contribute to OCLC as a prominent player."
Vanessa Middleton, Head Librarian, Petroleum Institute University and Research Centre
"I will serve to represent the collective needs of the academic community within the region; and demonstrate the significant role that OCLC’s products, services and resources can contribute. OCLC can truly empower this region and foster a sustainable 'Library Community in Action'."
To enhance diversity in the EMEA Regional Council Executive Committee, Regional Council Executive Committee has determined that they particularly wish to seek nominations from countries not already represented by Delegates. Countries which are already represented include: Germany, Netherlands, UK, Denmark, Lebanon and South Africa. In addition, Nominees should hold a leadership position in an OCLC member institution i.e. Library Director or Deputy, or a position of an equivalent calibre. So we are very pleased with the current result.
And now it is YOUR turn: please make sure you cast your vote by 31st March.
If you are not sure who is the contact for your organisation, or if you have any other questions about the elections, please contact Fiona Leslie.
The results of the elections will be announced on the Global Council Meeting on April 10-12 and will be published on the OCLC EMEA website and in OCLC’s eNews.
Thank you for voting!
