Definition |
Fully content-designated representation, in a non-Latin script, of another field in the same record. Field 880 is linked to the associated regular field by subfield ǂ6. Subfield ǂ6 in the associated field also links that field to field 880. The data in field 880 may be in more than one script. For information about the structure and content of subfield ǂ6, see Control Subfields. When an associated field does not exist in the record, field 880 is structured as if it did. Occurrence number 00 is used in subfield ǂ6 to indicate that field 880 is not linked to the associated field. Field 880 is system supplied when non-Latin script is entered. The 880 field tag does not appear in OCLC online displays. Instead, the content of field 880, with the exception of subfield ǂ6, displays with the tag of the associated field. Do not manually add field 880. Non-Latin scripts appearing in 880 fields in a record are collectively identified in field 066. For more information about multiscript record models and specifications for character sets, see MARC 21 Specifications for Record Structure, Character Sets, and Exchange Media. |
