"Implementing OCLC's WorldShare Management Services and EZproxy has allowed us to offer better access to resources while expanding our global reach. With enhanced efficiency and a richer digital collection, we're better equipped to support both student learning and faculty research."

Chaoyang University of Technology (CYUT) is a private university located in Taichung, Taiwan (R.O.C.), established in 1994. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across disciplines such as engineering, humanities, business, design, and information technology.

With a modern campus and a focus on innovation, CYUT has gained recognition for its commitment to research, technological advancement, and student success in both local and international settings.

The library staff at CYUT needed an efficient, integrated system that would simplify resource management, provide reliable access for users, including to Open Access (OA) resources, and reinforce the university's international visibility.

This led to CYUT deciding to implement OCLC's WorldShare Management Services (WMS) along with EZproxy, to transform its approach to library management. The features of WMS allow CYUT Library to manage both subscribed and Open Access electronic resources simultaneously.

By synchronizing updates directly with content providers, the platform minimizes repetitive tasks, reduces link breakages, and ensures an increased, reliable user experience. With the help of OCLC's expert consultants from the Taipei office, CYUT Library successfully transitioned to the new system.

Gain work efficiency and enhanced access

The adoption of these services brought numerous benefits across the library, such as improved work efficiency for library staff due to automating electronic resource updates and integration with content providers. With the latest updates, CYUT Library's collections now include 570,000 physical items, over 1 million e-books, and more than 100,000 e-journals. Enhanced access for students and faculty, and advanced analytics for library administration are other examples of how CYUT Library has benefitted from OCLC's solutions.

This increase in digital offerings and the reduction of broken links have created a smoother, more reliable user experience, supporting both teaching and independent learning. The platform's data analysis capabilities allow CYUT administrators to make more precise decisions. By incorporating APIs for diverse system development and interfaces, they have enhanced service quality and library management efficiency. Another benefit is that automatic updating of electronic resources reduces the workload for managers.

Experience the impact on international visibility

Through OCLC's platforms, Chaoyang University of Technology Library has improved its global presence, showcasing the university's research impact. This international exposure supports CYUT's mission to connect with a global academic community and promote its research contributions worldwide.

The adoption of WMS has resulted in a significant increase in CYUT's international visibility, primarily through its presence in WorldCat. This international exposure supports CYUT's mission to connect with a global academic community and promote its research contributions worldwide.

"The increased visibility in WorldCat has allowed the Poding Memorial Library to receive more direct interlibrary loan requests from libraries around the world, strengthening resource sharing and making a meaningful contribution to international academic collaboration and sustainable development initiatives," said Fiona Tsai, Director of Acquisition & Cataloging.
