Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany, is now live with OCLC's WorldShare Management Services
BREMEN, Germany, 18 July 2022—Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany, is now live with OCLC's WorldShare® Management Services (WMS) as its new library services platform. Simplified workflows for staff and fast, easy access to information in all formats for students and faculty were cited among the reasons for the move to WMS.
Jacobs University opened in 2001 as a private, English-speaking university that today educates more than 1,600 students on its international campus. The university's core goals include offering students high academic quality as well as an international experience. It also aims to provide students with the best possible support for their personal development and to optimally develop their professional skills.
"Our decision to implement WMS was mainly influenced by the fact that students as well as researchers will be able to access information much easier and faster. This is particularly beneficial in the context of our international orientation," explains Britta Molter, IRC Acquisitions Officer at Jacobs University.
"The simplification of workflows was also important in our decision. Due to the modular and flexible structure of WMS, it optimally adapts to the specific needs of our researchers and students. So, I am sure that the new library system will not only help to improve the efficiency of our workflows, but also support our research and teaching."
WMS is a cloud-based, modular library services platform that provides users with fast, reliable access to the library's collections and a worldwide network of knowledge. With WorldCat as the foundation for WMS, Jacobs University library staff can draw on OCLC's shared data network and technology for more efficient workflows.
"We are pleased to welcome Jacobs University to the OCLC global library network. As a cloud-based library management system, WMS allows for a great deal of flexibility and a wide range of customization. I am confident that WMS will help Jacobs University achieve its teaching and research goals," said Eric van Lubeek, Vice President, Managing Director, OCLC EMEA & APAC.
