Shared Print Management

How does the shared print registration service work?

The new shared print registration service is a streamlined registration process that allows batch creation of shared print single-part monograph retention commitments in WorldCat. This service uses non-MARC data, in the form of a .CSV file, to create LHRs (via a 583 Action Note).

How do I access the shared print registration service?

Full documentation and access instructions can be found here.

What is the cost of the shared print registration service?

This service is included in your library’s full cataloging subscription. Learn more details about OCLC Cataloging and Metadata Subscription.

Can I download my LHRs with the retention commitments after I’ve created them?

Yes, you have the option to download your shared print LHRs and/or bibliographic records after creating them, either in separate files or interleaved.

I’m a WorldShare Management Services library. How do I create shared print retention commitments in my local catalog?

By using the shared print registration service, your shared print holdings will be automatically updated in WMS.

How does this affect interlibrary loan?

The shared print archiving project's retention commitment disclosure strategy had no impact whatsoever on the borrowing workflows in resource sharing.

During registration, libraries will have the ability to set their lending and reproduction policies for their shared print retention commitments.
