With WorldShare Acquisitions, you can:
Apply WorldCat data directly to the acquisition process
Direct integration with WorldCat means that you no longer need to move records from a separate catalog database to your local system. This significantly streamlines the acquisitions process, because full cataloging records typically are available in the system for creating order records.
The WorldCat knowledge base, integrated with WorldShare Management Services (WMS), allows you to manage the acquisition of electronic resources in the same location you manage your physical resources.
Manage your physical serials from the same environment
Physical serials management is integrated within WMS, not a separately priced and configured module. Unlike many traditional systems with serials check-in modules separate from other system components, WMS handles serial and multi-part holdings the same way it handles monographic items—by storing the information as MARC Format for Holdings Data in local holdings records.
Storing holdings information of all record types in a common format promotes a unified workflow and interface and fosters efficient resource sharing among different institutions whose holdings share a common format. All of the serials functions for both print and electronic resources are available in a single interface with no need to move among multiple systems.
Leverage the shared work of libraries with cooperative serials receiving and publication patterns
Predicted issues are not just based on prediction patterns. Rather, when any WMS library receives an issue, it is now ready for other libraries to receive. Prediction patterns are then used to predict only the next expected issue not yet received by a WMS library. Prediction patterns are created and shared among all WMS-subscribing libraries and allow libraries to manage and enhance them cooperatively.
Share vendor information
A shared vendor information center lets libraries share core data concerning a vendor, such as addresses and contacts, and customize it locally. This also allows OCLC to incorporate Partner Exchange Services into each vendor record for electronic ordering and invoicing with library material vendors' systems. This means all WMS libraries realize the benefits of this service while configuration and testing is only done one time. The centralized vendor information center makes electronic ordering and invoicing services more efficient and cooperative.
