Description

In the first webinar of the three-part Realities of Data Management webinar series, we will explore some of the features of a scholarly record that is evolving to incorporate an expanding range of research outputs, including research data sets. We will then take a brief tour of research data management (RDM), based on a framework describing its major service components. Finally, we will focus on the RDM service offerings of four research universities, from four very different national and higher education settings.

Webinar participants will gain an understanding of the major trends shaping the scholarly record of the 21st century; learn about RDM, a key aspect of today’s scholarly record; and explore examples of how universities are meeting the RDM needs of their faculty and students.

This webinar is first in a three-part series based upon The Realities of Research Data Management  series published by OCLC Research in 2017-18. It will be of interest to library leaders and scholarly communications librarians. Given the enterprise nature of research data management, it will also be relevant to other institutional stakeholders including deans, research administrators, institutional researchers, and IT professionals. Interested RLP members may also choose to participate in an accompanying RDM Interest Group community.

Works in Progress: An OCLC Research Occasional Webinar Series to talk about work happening in OCLC Research – we'd like to present our work informally and get feedback from you, our Partners. We'd also like this to be a venue for Partner institutions. What are you working on that everyone should know about? What input would help you move forward? Let us know!
