Presenters

  • Galen Collier, Director, Research Support, Office of Advanced Research Computing, Rutgers University
  • Dee Magnoni, Assistant Vice President for Information Services and Director, New Brunswick Libraries
  • Susan Oldenburg, GIS Specialist, Rutgers OARC and Rutgers New Brunswick Libraries

Description

In this webinar, representatives from Rutgers University will share how the Rutgers New Brunswick Libraries has partnered with the systemwide Office of Advanced Research Computing to develop a shared GIS specialist position. This position is part of a campus-wide approach to the provision of research support services at Rutgers, and the speakers will share how campus stakeholders transformed informal collaborations into formal agreements in order to provide much needed services. This presentation will talk about cross-institutional synergies and the challenges and opportunities of developing a shared position. Additionally, GIS Specialist Sue Oldenburg will share her perspectives on how a position housed in two units has enhanced her ability to build relationships, make connections, and offer informed referrals to other services, units, and specialists on campus.

This webinar is part of a series offered by the OCLC Research Library Partnership focusing on cross-campus collaboration in research support, in conjunction with the publication Social Interoperability in Research Support: Cross-campus partnerships and the university research enterprise, which examines the growing imperative for cross-campus, cross-domain institutional collaboration in the provision of successful research support services.

This webinar will be of interest to scholarly communication librarians and library leaders as well as anyone interested in cultivating positive campus partnerships and demonstrating the library’s value proposition.
