Description

According to the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP), “Research Development encompasses a set of strategic, proactive, catalytic, and capacity-building activities designed to facilitate individual faculty members, teams of researchers, and central research administrations in attracting extramural research funding, creating relationships, and developing and implementing strategies that increase institutional competitiveness. Research Development professionals initiate and nurture critical partnerships and alliances throughout the institutional research enterprise. . . .” The library is a key part of the institutional research enterprise, and as such, a potentially important partner with Research Development professionals.

In this webinar, a panel of research development professionals from three research intensive institutions will provide an overview of research development activities, goals, and values. They will also share research development practices at each of their institutions, and discuss how they work synergistically with the library on enterprise efforts like ORCID adoption, competitive intelligence, and research data management.

This webinar is part of a series offered by the OCLC Research Library Partnership focusing on cross-campus collaboration in research support, in conjunction with the recent publication Social Interoperability in Research Support: Cross-campus partnerships and the university research enterprise, which examines the growing imperative for cross-campus, cross-domain institutional collaboration in the provision of successful research support services.

This webinar will be of interest to anyone interested in cultivating positive campus partnerships to support research activities. We expect this to be of particular interest to scholarly communication librarians and library leaders.
