Presenter

  • Allison Levy, Director, Brown University Digital Publications

Description

Since 2015, Brown University Library has hosted a Digital Publications program (BUDP), within its Center for Digital Scholarship. This program supports innovative scholarship in new and experimental forms, extending beyond the traditional monograph format. The resulting born-digital scholarly publications leverage multimedia, interactive engagement, and open access to extend the visibility and access of humanities scholarship to global audiences.

In this presentation, program director Allison Levy shares about the history and scope of this Mellon-funded effort and discusses the challenges for new forms of digital publication, particularly related to discoverability and preservation. She also talks about other BUDP initiatives, including a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)-funded training institute for non-Brown scholars wishing to pursue digital scholarship projects, as well as a new Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant that establishes a training program for library professionals at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), to better support their local digital scholars.

This webinar will be relevant to anyone interested in scholarly communications, library publishing, and digital humanities.

All affiliates of OCLC Research Library Partnership organizations are invited to participate.
